Boston Sharkfest - 1500 meters – September 21, 2013
Imagine swimming across Boston Harbor from Piers Park Sailing Center in east Boston to the swim finish at the John Joseph Moakley US Federal Courthouse at Fan Pier in South Boston. You can do this! The 1500 meter competitive swim will have downtown Boston for a backdrop as athletes navigate across the channel to a thrilling finish. The Coast Guard will stop all boat traffic in and out of the channel during this event. Water taxis will transport swimmers from the finish line to the start of the swim. This will be the talk of the New England swim circuit.
Newport Sharkfest - 1500 meters – September 28, 2013
The Newport Sharkfest Swim will take place along the historic waterfront of Newport, home of the America's Cup Hall of Fame. The swim will go from the harbormaster's dock at Perotti Park in front of the Newport Marriott Hotel. It will be an in-water start in waves of 75 to proceed past the docks on your left side and anchored sailboats on the right side of the swimming channel. The 1500 meter swim will be a straight shot down the harbor to finish on the beach at King Park in the shadow of the statue of Rochambeau. Post event festivities will take place in the park, including the awards ceremony and the appropriate post swim fare.
